Education

Mrs. Paschall is a graduate of Wake Forest University (B.A., cum laude, 1982) and Wake Forest Law School (J.D., cum laude, 1985). She was awarded the Order of the Barristers, and was a member of the National Moot Court Team and the William and Mary Moot Court Team (Best Brief), Moot Court Board and Law Review.

Role at MHC

Mrs. Paschall is a shareholder at MHC and has been with the firm since 1985. She practices primarily in the areas of commercial law, corporate/business law, estate administration, employment law, landlord and tenant, construction, personal injury, health care law, and general civil litigation.

Professional Bio

She is a member of the Gaston County, North Carolina and American Bar Associations and the North Carolina State Bar. Mrs. Paschall has been awarded the highest professional rating of “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell for over twenty-five years.

As a member of the Wake Forest Law Review she authored Defamation—Republication of Defamatory Pleadings by a Litigant, 20 Wake Forest L. Rev. 145, 1984; and Comment, New Principles Involving the Adequate and Independent State Grounds Doctrine in Federal Jurisdiction, 20 Wake Forest L. Rev. 635, 1984.

Mrs. Paschall serves as a Director for Carolina Trust Bank and as a member of the Asset/Liability and Investment Committee, currently serves on the Board of Directors for the regional Catawba Lands Conservancy, the Community Foundation for Gaston County and Covenant Village Retirement and Life Care Home. Mrs. Paschall is a member of the Gastonia East Rotary Club and was recognized by the club as a Paul Harris Fellow. Mrs. Paschall was honored as the 2006 ATHENA Award winner by Park Sterling Bank and The Gaston Chamber of Commerce. She also received the first Encore Award from the United Arts Council of Gaston County for her support and advocacy of the arts and served on the Board of Directors for the United Arts Council from 2001 – 2004. Mrs. Paschall was honored with the Emerald Award as the Gaston Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year in 1999. She is the past Chairman of the Board for the United Way of Gaston County and served in various capacities of the United Way for seven years. Mrs. Paschall served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Gaston Chamber of Commerce in 2005, having previously served on the Chamber Board for five years. Mrs. Paschall is also a past Chapter Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gaston County Chapter of the American Red Cross and a recipient of the Clara Barton Award for meritorious volunteer leadership. She is also a past president of the Gastonia Civitan Club and a past member of the Advisory Board for the Gaston County Volunteer Lawyers Program.

Mrs. Paschall was honored as a 2014 Citizen Lawyer by the North Carolina Bar Association to recognize her exemplary public service to her community. She has also presented manuscripts and lectures to both lawyers and business groups on topics such as mental health law, commercial law issues, landlord/tenancy issues, personnel issues, lease requirements and federal regulations.

Personal Bio

Mrs. Paschall is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gastonia where she serves as a member of various committees. She is married to Tim Paschall and has two daughters. Mrs. Paschall’s interests include hiking, travel, Bridge and reading.
